Uncoated concrete floors can crack and weaken overtime, unless protected. Concrete is also porous and prone to staining and have joints and irregularities that can cause hygiene problems, while epoxy flooring offers superior protection for slabs.
Epoxy flooring is waterproof and will prevent water from seeping down into your substrate or subfloors. It also protects your floors from mold and bacteria growth because they have a smooth, nonporous surface with no cracks or chinks into which bacteria or mold can settle and grow.
Epoxy flooring is also resistant to stains and chemical spills, including gas, oil, and solvents. They are durable in salty climates or areas where the roads are salted in the winter. That makes them perfect for garages and areas where salt and water drain off boots or car tires.

Epoxy Flooring Maintenance and Cleaning
Vacuum
A vacuum can be used on your epoxy floor any time there is dirt or dust on the floor that needs to be collected.
Bristle Brush/Broom
To get loose dirt and dust off the floor surface, use a hand broom with soft bristle brush attachments or soft bristle brush attachments on power scrubbers. Do not use aggressive nylon pads or stiff bristle brushes. Over time, they may scratch and dull the epoxy-flooring surface.
Mopping
Regularly mopping of the floor with warm water and the occasional use of cleaning products are simple ways of maintaining them. However, be advised that you need to ALWAYS use clean water, clean mops, brushes, and pails. Rinse your mop often. Use ONLY a non-oily shop mop in garages.
This will help you avoid spreading dirt across the floor. Also, you should occasionally use a degreaser when cleaning your floor. CHECK THE LABEL to make sure it will not harm the smooth surface. Do not allow cleaners or disinfectants to dry on the surface, they will build up and cause dullness.
Rinsing is especially important when using a degreaser. A cold-water degreaser is best FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS recommended on the product label. Use a generous amount of degreaser with a soft bristle brush, let the degreaser remain for a time – as the label directs before rinsing. If the dirt load is heavy, repeat the process and make sure the final rinse is VERY thorough.
